What You Missed at Biotech Showcase 2017

There’s no better way to kick off 2017 than by attending Biotech Showcase, a space full of innovation, education, collaboration, and conversation. I continue to be amazed at the caliber of this meeting as it attracts the movers and shakers of our industry.

Here are a few highlights from my experience this year:

For three days, I attended relevant, thought-provoking workshops and lunch meetings, all of which were led by an esteem panel. Throughout these sessions, I witnessed a myriad of conversations on innovation from the top leaders in our industry.

It’s exciting to hear their passion about the sciences, advances, setbacks, and lessons learned as well as their forecasts for the future. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in and listening to executives give their visions of their respective companies.

Collaboration and conversations about partnering were happening everywhere during the Biotech Showcase. Vital connections were being made between start-ups, well-funded phase I, II, III companies, venture capital firms, and consulting firms offering a variety of expertise.

As I walked through the Showcase to attend a panel discussion on digital medicine, I noticed the tables lining the way to the main meetings were set up differently. Instead of vendors, the brilliant set-up provided more opportunities for meetings to happen, casually and spontaneously. I’ve been in the people business for quite a while, and I was truly impressed by the way the Showcase was designed.

Connections (old and new) and networking receptions are some of my favorite aspects of the showcase. Dinners were hosted, receptions were happening, and the buzz from the day continued into the evening hours.

I’m excited to watch many of the companies that attended grow and partner with other organizations. I’m confident I’ll see them flourish to a point where they are presenting at important conferences in the future. I’ve seen it happen for a few of our clients, and it’s always exciting to be a part of their success. It’s one of the many reasons I love this industry and the people in it.

The #BiotechShowcase continues to impress me. It’s an event where executives, talent, and resources come together in the name of an innovative future. It makes me proud to be part of this industry, and I look forward to attending again next year and seeing more progress by new friends’ ventures. As we say at TSP, love what you do.
